Estimated SYNTAX (eSYNTAX) score

This is a website for the Estimated SYNTAX (eSYNTAX) score. The eSYNTAX score is a score that represents the complexity of the coronary artery lesions. The eSYNTAX score was derived from the medical costs during the admission for index PCI and the insurance claim data.

We developed the eSYNTAX score for the following 2 purposes.

First, we suggest that the eSYNTAX score would provide information regarding the coronary artery lesion complexity, which researchers cannot obtain, when they research using the insurance claim data.

Second, we suggest that the eSYNTAX score will allow clinicians to predict the future risk of mortality in patients whom they are performing PCI for, as the observed SYNTAX score does.

eSYNTAX score = 1.62132758 + 0.11214625 * Cost - 3.12806760 * (Number of PCI>1|1,0) + 0.04180396 * Age (year) + 0.71740955 * (Male sex|1,0) + 1.36046488 * (Shock|1,0) + 1.68828751 * (Heart failure|1,0) + 1.82966113 * (Diabetes|1,0) - 3.75381632 * (PTA during admission|1,0) - 0.96492613 * (Multivessel PCI|1,0) + 4.70874161 * (Number of stent=2|1,0) + 11.19251130 * (Number of stent=3|1,0) + 12.62347379 * (NUmber of stent=4|1,0) + 16.06511058 * (Number of stent>=5|1,0) + 2.43296246 * (Number of wire=2|1,0) + 3.85849100 * (Number of wire=3|1,0) + 7.44700510 * (Number of wire>=4|1,0) + 2.04895842 * (Extension catheter|1,0) + 6.52873014 * (Microcatheter >=3|1,0) + 5.99318088 * (Atherectomy|1,0)
