Bootstrap Method

The data set includes the percentage of protein intake from different types of food in countries around the world. The variable that I chose is Animal Products and it describes the percentage of protein intake per country from Animal Products.

The 95% confidence interval of the variable Animal Products is
x
upper 22.43156
mean 21.23215
lower 20.03275

This is the histogram using the bootstrap method.

This is the 95% bootstrap percentile confidence interval of Animal Products
x
2.5% 20.66102
97.5% 21.79164

I found that both confidence intervals are very similar. The bootstrap confidence interval is sometimes slightly larger or smaller than the other. This shows that the bootstrap method can be just as effective as repeatedly taking random samples from the population. The average amount of protein intake from animal products is around 20% for all the countries in our sample. The assumption that the histogram of the original sample is approximately normal is met making the bootstrap method effective.
