Barplot with variable width - ggplot2

 

Introduction

The main purpose of this Barplot is to demonstrates variable bar width. This is not straight forward as it sounds! I do not think ‘many’ software applications that can do this? Indeed ggplot2 also? Well unless you ‘cheat’! That is to say you come up with some alternative creative way, and that was how I have done this. Getting the grid lines on the tick marks was the most challenging believe it or not!

By the way this a replicate of (https://rfortherestofus.com/2022/07/align-axes/) but I wanted to improve on it. Note the numbers are not accurate and not important in this example.
