The University of Liberia (UL) through its Center for Testing and Evaluation (CTE) customarily administers entrance, placement exam and aptitude test as part of the vetting process for admission. This year 2022 second entrance and placement exam and aptitude test are administered to candidates from three of our five programs: undergraduate colleges, graduate school and the law school.

Entrance and Placement Exam

  • The entrance and placement exam is intended to help select candidates who are at least capable of doing undergrad college course work without further high school preparation.

Aptitude Test

  • For admittance into the UL Graduate and Professional Schools, the CTE-UL administers aptitude test to select candidates capable of doing graduate and professional schools course work at the UL.

Exam Registration and Administration Dates

  • \(\color{red}{\textbf{Exam Registration Period:}}\) The Center for Testing and Evaluation (CTE) of the University of Liberia commenced the registration of the Undergraduate Second Entrance Exam and the Graduate and Professional Schools Aptitude Test for Graduate and Law Schools on Monday, September 12, 2022 and completed the same on Friday, November 4, 2022.

  • \(\color{red}{\textbf{Exam Administration Period:}}\) CTE-UL administered its Second Entrance and Placement Exam Computer-Based component for undergrad candidates on Monday, October 31, 2022; the Paper-based Exam for centers in Montserrado, Grand Bassa, and Nimba on Saturday, November 5, 2022, and for Centers in Lofa and Grand Gedeh on Monday, November 7, 2022. CTE-UL began the administration of the Graduate and Professional Schools Aptitude Test on Monday, November 7 and ended on Wednesday, November 16, 2022.

\(\color{black}{\textbf{KEY TERMS}}\)

Company Schools : Those schools that are built and run by companies. The children of the company’s employees attend these schools.

Community Schools: Those schools that are established or built through communiy initiative and/ or County Development Projects. These schools will later transition to public schools.

Private Schools : Those schools that are run or established by individuals.

Faith-Based Schools: Those schools that are run or established by religious institutions.

Public Schools : Government owned schools

GS : Graduate Schools
LS : Law School

The UL 2022 Second Entrance and Placement Exam Results for the undergraduate colleges and Straz Sinje Technical and Vocational College fall into six categories:

\(\color{black}{\textbf{Regular Pass}}\)

  • candidates are those who scored at least 50% in Mathematics and at least 50% in English.

\(\color{black}{\textbf{Provisional Pass}}\)

  • candidates are those who scored less than 50% in Mathematics or less than 50% in English but obtained an average score of at least 50% when their mathematics and English scores are combined.

\(\color{black}{\textbf{Unsuccessful}}\)

  • candidate have an average score of less than 50% when their Mathematics and English scores are combined.

\(\color{black}{\textbf{Absent}}\)

  • candidate registered for the University of Liberia entrance but did not turn out for the Entrance Examination.

\(\color{black}{\textbf{Wrongly Shaded}}\)

  • candidate wrongly shaded their Exam Numbers during the exam.

  • candidate caught cheating during the exam.

The UL 2022 Second Aptitude Test results for Graduate School fall into three (3) categories:

  • candidate scored the average of 40% when his/her Math score and English score are combined.

\(\color{black}{\textbf{Unsuccessful}}\)

  • candidate average score is less than 40%.

\(\color{black}{\textbf{Absent}}\)

  • candidate registered for the University of Liberia Graduate School Aptitude Test but did not turn out for the Test.

The UL 2022 Second Aptitude Test results for Law School fall into three (3) categories:

  • candidate scored the average of 50% when his/her essay score and multiple choice score are combined.

\(\color{black}{\textbf{Unsuccessful}}\)

  • candidate combined essay score and multiple choice score is less than 50%

  • candidate registered for the University of Liberia Law School Aptitude Test but did not turn out for the Test.

A total of nine thousand, seven hundred eighty-five (9,785) candidates registered for the UL 2022 Second Entrance and Placement Exam for Undergraduate Colleges. One hundred eighty-three (183) candidates were absent for the exam while, the remaining nine thousand, six hundred two (9,602) candidates sat our undergrad exam.

  • A total of nine thousand, seven hundred eighty-five (9,785) candidates registered for the UL 2022 Second Entrance and Placement Exam for Undergraduate Colleges. Of this number, only nine thousand, six hundred-two (9,602 or 98% ) candidates wrote the Exam, one candidate (1 or 0.01%) was disqualified for cheating, while one hundred eighty-three (183 or 2%) candidates were absent. Of the total nine thousand, six hundred-one (9,601 or 98% ) candidates whose grades were analysed, three thousand, two hundred forty-one ( 3,241 or 33.76%) candidates passed regularly, one thousand five hundred-twenty (1,520 or 15.83%) candidates passed provisionally while four thousand, eight hundred forty (4,840 or 50.41% ) candidates were unsuccessful.

  • This also means that only four thousand, seven hundred sixty-one (4,761 or 49.59%) Undergraduate candidates made either a Regular Pass or a Provisional Pass and are therefore eligible to apply for admission.

  • The total of two hundred seventy-six (276) candidates wrote the Graduate School Aptitude Test. Of this number, one hundred-four (104 or 37.68%) candidates were successful while one hundred seventy-two (172 or 62.32%) candidates were UNSUCCESSFUL. Of the one hundred four(104) successful candidates, thirty-four (34 or 32.69%) candidates are females while seventy (70 or 67.31%) are males.

  • The total of one hundred fifty-four (154) candidates registered for the Law School Aptitude Test. Three(3 or 1.95) candidates were absent. Of the total of one hundred fifty-one (151) candidates that wrote the Law School Aptitude Test, forty-four (44 or 29.14%) candidates were successful, while one hundred-seven (107 or 70.86%) were UNSUCCESSFUL. Of the forty-four (44 or 29.14%) successful candidates, thirty-four (34 or 77.27%) candidates are males while ten (10 or 22.73%) are females.
