The map below shows differences in building cover in the HRTPO region from Renaissance’s previous study [two years ago] to now. In both cases, the source of the data is the Microsoft Buildings Footprints project; today’s data simply reflects updated underlying imagery.

The map legend can be interpreted according to the definitions below. Note that un-colored spots indicate that a building was/is not present in that spot in either time horizon.

For the purposes of producing a webmap, the footprint comparison raster had to be downsampled due to size; the resulting cell size moves from 10 meters to approximately 13.2 meters. Thus, the most precise way to view this data will still be to load the original raster into a desktop GIS. However, this webmap will give a good sense of overall trends and patterns.

The table below summarizes removed, added, and persistent building footprint acreage by TAZ. Use the filter feature atop the “ID” column to observe data for a TAZ of interest by typing the TAZ ID into the text box. Note that, to make TAZs identifiable, all IDs have been extended to 4 digits. So, to search for TAZ 17, for example, use the code “0017”.
