Characteristics of Residential Sales

The CSO released data on the Characteristics of Residential Property Purchasers, which includes statistics on sales volume and prices along with age and income demographics for 2019 to 2021 across Sole/Joint purchases. A further analysis of this will follow similar to the previous breakdown by NUTS3 region. For now see income distribution below.

The share of variable loans have continued to fall, to record lows. - Recall from the last review of this data that prior to 2015 the share oscillated between 55 - 85%. Interestingly the European average is heading in the other direction. - Having steadily fallen from 25% since 2015.
