The Media Analytic data was provided to me from Jenny Jiang. The university data is from https://data.cityofnewyork.us/Education/Colleges-and-Universities/4kym-4xw5
As the amount of Universities in an area increase there will be more Media Analytics Job. The reason why more Media Analytic jobs will increase is because business are looking to find students to hire as well as potentially utilizing University’s resources.
This map shows the frequency of Media Analytics job postings by zip codes in New York City. The map shows that the strongest areas of job postings are around midtown and Lower Manhattan. These results were expected because Lower Manhattan is the Business epicenter of New York City. There are also surprisingly a lot of job postings in the Eastern suburbs of New York City
This map shows the frequency of Univerties by Zip Codes. Overall there is less of a concentration around Lower Manahtten compared to the previous map. The denser areas are likley due to large universties like NYU and Columbia.
This scatter plot shows the correlation of the amount of universities in a zip code with the amount of Media Analytics job postings. While the trend line shows that as the count of universities also increases, job postings in the zip code also increases. However, the coefficient of determination (0.03) shows that the correlation is extremely weak.
In conclusion I found that my hypothesis was wrong. The coefficient of determination (0.03) shows that the correlation is extremely weak between universities and Media Anayltic job postings. In addition, in the data same colleges can show up multiple times due to universities having seperate schools. The were not many zip codes with universities so the statistical correlation requires more data. In the future we can conduct more research into the possibility of including more universities that were not in our data.
