The following map includes City of Milwaukee ward level turnout and voting results for the 2018 and 2022 gubernatorial elections. Click on each ward to view statistics.

Ward boundaries changed due to redistricting between 2018 and 2022. To faciliate comparisons, I calculated the voting age population overlap between 2018 ward shapes and 2022 ward shapes using 2020 census block data. In the map, I provide a “2018 to 2020 allocation factor,” which is the weighted average of the 2018 ward fractions assigned to each 2022 boundary. A factor of 1 indicates a perfect match.

A trivial number of wards lacked any population in 2020, in which case no data is provided.

To ensure an accurate comparison point, the total number of registered voters is sourced from the ward-level results published in the unofficial election returns provided by the Milwaukee County Clerk in both elections. This does not include election day registrations, which is why the number of ballots cast can exceed the number of registered voters in this data. Registered voter statistics including election day registrants won’t be available until December 1st.
