Data

The data for this report are from two sources. The population of cases was identified using The DOJ’s dataset of January 6 cases. This lists 902 cases, 335 of which are felonies.

The source for information on sentencing is the Federal Judicial Center’s (FJC) Integrated Database (IDB). The last update to the criminal defendants dataset was on September 30, 2022.

Sentences

71 cases have a recorded Sentencing Date. 72 cases have a non-missing value for total prison time (including 0). 90% of those 72 defendants received 63 months or less. 23 of them received no prison time. The longest sentence so far is 10 years .
