Suicide Rates By Country Over Three Decades

Out of 101 countries data available, we have selected the top 10 countries with the highest suicide rates across three decades
Over the years 1985to 2016, we can see that the Russian Federation has had the maximum number of suicides whereas United Kingdom has had the least number of suicides with a stark difference of slightly over 110,000.
It is interesting to note that the top 3 countries with the highest suicide rates lie in three different continents.
From the bar graph (see next slide), we can infer that Boomers, those who were born between 1946 to 1964 have the highest suicide rates (above 2 million) whilst the youngest generation called Generation Z, born between 1997 to 2010 have the least suicide rates.
It is fascinating to note that the oldest generation, G.I. Generation, which went through World War 2 have the second lowest number of suicides sitting at 500,000.
The line graph, shown in the next slide, showcases a sharp rise in suicide rates from 1998 to 1990 within the first decade.
The graph becomes fairly consistent in the next decade before noticing a sharp decline in the last three years of the last decade.
From the scatter plot (next slide), we can infer that there is a negative correlation between the suicide rates and the GDP of countries ranging from 1412 to 20,000.
The plot also showcases that there is no correlation between suicide rates and the GDP of countries ranging between approximately 15,300 to 39,200.
Last but not the least, we can see a positive correlation between suicide rates and the GDP of countries ranging from 39,218 to 60,387.
