Preparation

Summary: Data for this study was obtained through the gameday report from the NFL Website. The statistics are validated through an official source and were then input from a pdf report into a excel spreadsheet and organized by team unit.

Microsoft Excel

Four tables were created in excel to organize and sort data from original source. Data was sorted by offensive stats, offensive drive stats, defensive stats, special teams stats. Percentages such as completions, averages, and efficiency were calculated in excel by dividing total attempts by completion number and put in percentage format.

Data was then uploaded to microsoft power BI transformations were completed in Power Query to sort and clean then relationships were established between tables data for modeling.

Analysis & Visualizations

For the next step the current week’s game summary & statistics were created into three distinct visualizations that were organized by unit. Each report visualization includes averages, efficiency percentages, and a breakdown yards gained, allowed and returned for each unit. A dashboard is coming soon to show trends & comparisons for each game and give insights & predictions to the season so far. Below is the current week’s report summary & visualizations.
