Masing-masing fungsi bersikeras melewati setiap titik data. (Satu-satunya pengecualian adalah dua titik dengan keliling 13 inci. Tidak ada fungsi yang dapat melewati kedua titik dengan keliling 13, jadi fungsi membagi selisih dan melewati rata-rata dari dua titik.)
