Plumas National Forest and it's roads
- Over 2000 miles of roads!!!
- Easy to get lost (not all roads have a sign on it)
- Roads of very different quality, from highways to very bad roads
- Plumas is a Mountainous National Forest, walking on a straigh line is probably not a good idea
- It is a lot faster and easier to use the path of the least slope
How do we plan the best route? Using velocity of movement to calculate permeability
Driving speed
- On Highways we calculate a speed of 22.352 mts/seg
- On local roads we calculate a speed of 17.8816 mts/seg
- On

With the speed layer we make a transition layer raster
This will be used by the gdistance package to calculate least cost trayectory
