  • Labs: Monday 10:00-12:00 and Thursday 13:00-15:00 in room Boyd Orr 418/420, starting on Monday 26/09/2022 until Thursday 01/12/2022.

  • Q&A sessions: Tuesday and Thursday 09:00-10:00 in room Rankine 408, starting 27/09/2022 until Thursday 01/12/2022. Please note this course has no lecture hours.

Course Information

  • The course consists of 5 weeks of R (26th Sept - 30th Oct) lead by Dr Castro-Camilo and 5 weeks of Python (31st Oct - 4th Dec) lead by Dr Davies.

  • For each coding language, there will be 10 modules (20 in total over the whole course) where each week will have 2 self-contained lecture notes supported by video material, two lab sessions, and Q&A sessions.

  • The learning activities will be centred around labs and there will be no lecture hours.

  • Instead, there will be weekly Q&A live sessions, intended to answer any programming questions you might have.

  • The course is assessed by 100% continuous assessment.

  • The assessment will be delivered online and take the form of four timed Moodle quiz class tests.

  • You will have one working week from the date the assignment is made available on Moodle to submit your answers, however as soon as you start the assignment you will have a fixed amount of time to complete the assignment.

  • Please note that a mock assignment that will help you get familiar with the Moodle quiz environment is available on Moodle.
