Professional Background

Work Experience

After graduating from the University of Indianapolis with my undergraduate degrees, I immediately started to pursue my Master’s degree. With this being said my work experience is limited to part-time jobs that I had throughout college. These include my current roles:

  • Exercise Rehabilitation Tech
    • Work directly and closely with patients to achieve maximum physical recovery by implementing physical therapy programs that focus on rehabilitation.
    • Record and document care services as well as evaluation results.
  • Weight Room Worker
    • Work with student athletes and coaches to create a positive environment to reach both personal and team goals.
    • Create a platform for the weight staff to keep record of football training maxes to be used as quantitative data to track strength progress and include personalized profiles for each player.
    • Design a maximal schedule for all workers so that the optimal number of people are working at a given time and all workers can get their hours in.

In addition to these I have also worked the following during my undergraduate years:

  • Order Selector at Zink Distributing Co.
    • Managed inventory by properly selecting and stacking cases on pallets according to weight, dimensions, and frailty and organizing labels to ensure safe and efficient delivery of each individual order during shipping. _ Promoted team work by providing team goals to achieve and providing team rewards when goals were achieved.
  • Teacher Assistant at the University of Indianapolis
    • Answered students’ questions to establish healthy relationships while promoting a safe, positive learning environment. _ Led exercises to develop public speaking skills, promote group problem solving, and concentrate on effective listening. _Managed diligent records and processed weekly attendance reports of the students to ensure accuracy and speed of their attendance and grades.

Professional Development

Since my work experience is limited, it is necessary to include professional development I have done over the years.

  • Student Athlete
    • From August of 2017 to May of 2022 I served as a member of the University of Indianapolis softball team. This was done in conjuncture with my undergraduate degrees and first year of my graduate studies.

  • Member of the Student Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC)
    • I served as a member from August of 2018 till May of 2022. SAAC included leadership opportunities as well as community service activities. The SAAC body acted as the bridge between coaches, student athletes, and administration. The goal was to act as a voice for student athletes, protecting their welfare, ensuring equal opportunities, promoting mutual support and fostering a sense of community.

  • Member of Athletes in Action (AIA)
    • I served as a member from August of 2021 to May of 2022. This was a Christian group that used the sports platform to serve and worship Jesus. The concentration was to live out the four values: faith, oneness, growth, and fruitfulness. I hope to be able to demonstrate these in any work that I do in the future.

  • NCAA Student Athlete Leadership Forum (SALF)

    • I was elected to take a part of this in November of 2021. This experience served as a transformational opportunity for student-athletes to build a leadership toolkit and develop vital self-awareness about personal values, core beliefs, and behavioral styles.
Participating in a small group discussion at SALF with groupmates and our Green Team facilitator. The Green Team photo at the end of the 4 day retreat. Community Service Project, the Jared Box, completed while at SALF.
  • Mentor for UIndy Mentor Collective
    • Online mentorship program that matches incoming students with upper-classmen peers (based on similarities) to help students set and achieve academic and personal goals.

Volunteer Opportunities

  • Volunteer for UIndy Football MEGA Camp
    • Volunteered for this event twice in May of both 2021 and May of 2022. I assisted coaches in a high school exposure camp. Specifically helping with check-in and assigning numbers to individuals for camp organization.
  • Volunteer for Selling Make A Wish Stars
    • Collaborated with SAAC to sell stars during UIndy sporting events to students, parents, and other spectators to raise money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Also assisted in organizing other individuals and sports teams to do the same.

Experience in R

I had some initial exposure in R in my undergraduate studies in a Probability and Statistics class. However, most of the code was done for us in this class. The beginning of true coding in R was in my graduate program this summer in MSDA 623: Analytics Solutions. My experience for this continues this semester in MSDA 621 Data Preparation.

Experience with Other Analytic Software

I have used Excel (and TI calculators) in my before data analytics era. However, I also have some exposure in the following software:

I hope to continue to grow my knowledge in analytical software even after completing my studies. I have a high desire to use my previous experience and educational background in the sports analytics field. However, I am open to exploring other types of data analytics too.
