synopsis of who I am

My name is Xuan Lin. I also go by Helen. I am a first year PHD student from OBAIS department starting from this fall. I am interested in data analytics and behavior IS because of my background. I am also an international student coming from China, specifically GuangDong province so I can speak 4 languages. I have lived in north america for 6-7 years now in different city. I am very looking forward to learning more about R and finding out what it can do.

Academic background

  • My undergraduate degree was Business administration from Simon Fraser University in Canada focusing in marketing and MIS.
  • I decided to do my master degree in analytics at Northeastern University majoring in statistic modelling.
  • I am starting my first year PHD in University of Cincinnati in the IS track.

Professional Background

  • After my master, I have worked as business analyst back in China for a year in a company that mainly sells server. My main responsibility there was to maintain the in-house SQL database sourced from ERP system, which will provide monthly analysis to higher management.
  • Then I have also worked as dashboard developer for AIA insurance company mainly using Tableau to support various business needs from different business units.

Experience with R

I have experience with R during my master year since I have mainly used it for modelling and analysis, like running ML models and visualizations, some experience with R markdown and R shinny for assignments.
