Hi I am Tisha Leyda, and I’m from Liberty Township Ohio which is about 30 minutes north of UC, right next to Mason. I went to Ursuline Academy down in Blue Ash for high school and I am now a 4th year engineering student here at UC. Things I like to do outside of class is that I am a part of Phi Sigma Rho which is an engineering sorority. I also enjoy watching sitcoms where Friends and Seinfeld are my favorite. I also adopted two kittens last year but unfortunately they are living with my parents this semester because my college house does not allow pets and I miss them dearly so enjoy this cute picture of them.
I am a fourth year electrical engineering student and I am also getting a math minor and a business analytics certificate.
I have spent three co-op rotations at LG&E and KU Energy which is an utility company located in Kentucky. I spent all three rotations at one of their coal power plants in Trimble County where I was the electrical engineer co-op. My main responsibilities at a power plant was maintaining the day to day operations of the equipment and performing upgrading to help increase the longevity of the plant. Twice a year we have something called an outage which is a schedule time when we take all of the equipment offline to completed routine maintenance. The goal of the outage is to service equipment that we normally cannot access while the plant is energized. Some of the projects I have worked on, included a $100,000 heater upgrade, relay upgrades, GSU testing, motor fire pump controls install, pH/ORP probe install, and breaker tracking. I am currently job searching for my 4th and 5th co-op rotation for next year and I am hoping to find a controls engineering position. I am also hoping to get out of Ohio for this next position and preferably further than Kentucky.
This semester is my first experience using R but I am using the software in this class and in statistics II.
I have experience is MATLAB, C++, Python, R, SSMS, and VBA. I have had the opportunity to learn difference coding languages in class and while on co-op.
