This dashboard focuses on the New York City Metropolitan Authority (NYC MTA) Bus System. The two main components analyzed are bus speeds and ridership. The bus speed information is provided at a monthly level of granularity with borough, route, and type of service information beginning in 2015. The ridership information is provided at the daily level, with ridership for the entire bus system, subway system, and other transit options provided by the NYC MTA.

*Note regarding change in bus speed reporting metrics:
Prior to January 2018, the NYC MTA reported bus speeds aggregated by
borough, trip type, and period, and did not report by specific route.
This led to the reporting of 28 entries each month due to there being
five boroughs, three trip types (with the exception of Manhattan which
only has two), and 2 periods (peak and off-peak). Beginning in January
2018, individual route information was added creating nearly 600 data
points each month providing a more reliable overview of the system.
