This project is to look at the location of where current NFL Athletes are from around the country excluding Hawaii and Alaska. I am excluding these two because there are minimal data points and it makes the map appear skewed. This is to determine where people would want to live if they wanted to play in the NFL in the future. The question I am asking is where in the US are you more likely to become an NFL player?
My Hypothesis will be the state with most population but I trully have no idea about where the most are from per capita.
I first started by finding the data directly from the NFL. I found this website, https://nflcommunications.com/Pages/City-of-Miami,-State-of-Florida,-Bradenton%27s-IMG-Academy-Produce-Most-NFL-Players-on-Kickoff-Weekend-Rosters.aspx that shows the charts about where most NFL athletes are from. It also included an excel file with data about every single NFL player in the league, that I manually adjusted to fit the schemes for tableau.
We will be looking at three maps.
One is a map of the whole country and shows how many NFL Players are from each state. It also shows in depth how many are from each city as well.As seen on the map the state with the total amount of NFL Players Florida is the top choice for living with 192 players being from Florida. Texas and California are second and third with 189 and 168 players.
The second is accounting for per capita as the population can skew results for the project. This map shows different results as Louisiana has the most NFL players per capita, with the result of 1 player per 68,496. Followed by Georgia with a huge decrease of 1 per 86,386 people being NFL players.
The Third map shows the high schools that most NFL Athletes went to.Most of the NFL Athletes, by population alone, are from Florida and Texas, but Louisiana is the best place to live per capita by far. It is interesting to see that even though Louisiana has the most players per capita the amount of players by high school are not even close to the high schools of Florida or Texas. The talent must be spread out more evenly in those states.
Florida Texas, and Louisiana are to the best place to live if you want to become an NFL player. Florida and Texas both show up on all three maps with the most amount of numbers and high school athletes going pro. Louisiana is the best place per capita so it has to be included in the final listing as one of the best places to live for professional futures in football.
