Australians have a long history of comparing ourselves to our cousins to the east, New Zealand. We compete with them in sport, claiming their celebrities as our own, drinking and pretty much any other activity you can compete in! In the interest of friendly rivalry I thought it would be interesting to see who has the better adoption of mobile and internet technology. This data can be used to help fuel the 'sibling rivalry that our two countries have going. The following visualisations show the comparison between the two countries.
In a blow to the Australian ego the data suggests that when it comes to both Mobile and Internet usage New Zealand come out on top in the most recent study results. Although both countries started off reasonable even, around 2014 New Zealand increased Mobile adoption, with 140 plans per 100 people indicating that almost 40% of people have more than one plan. Internet usage is also higher in New Zealand by 5%. Further analysis of available data can provide us with comparisons to other countries around the world, where we may reclaim some of our glory!
