The purpose of this challenge was to use Google Trends Analysis to review and analyze the emerging technology trends (biometrics, cybersecurity, data science, or quantum computing). Analyze keyword(s) using demographic/geospatial, time series, and related query data. If possible, predict the emerging technology trends over the next five years.
It is important to keep up with technology trends because with technology it makes important things, like an education, available to more people. Or even smaller things like shopping have become available to more people. Technology helps people do their jobs quickly and more efficiently. For example, businesses use websites to create an online presence that will lead to an increase views and sales. An online presence helps you reach more people, and is low-budget. This is possible due to technology evolving, and upcoming technology trends will continue to make life easier for everyone which is why technology trends are vital in our everyday lives.
This chart shows interest overtime in three search terms 3D printing, augmented reality, and machine learning. The interactive plot allows you to hover over certain points at specific times for any technology. The points above are not the actual number of search hits, but represent relative hits to the highest number of hits, which is for machine learning on October 1, 2019. For example, the number of hits for machine learning in September 1, 2007, is 13 hits, which means 13 percent of the maximum number of hits (machine learning October, 1, 2019). The major takeaway from this graph is that machine learning has exploded in interest over the past years relative to the other two technologies. These three maps show the regional interest(hits) in each of the three technologies. The brighter the shade of yellow, the more popular the technology is in that state. Similar to the graph above, all data points are in relation to the highest number of hits. For example, 3D printing is a the most popular in Utah and the least popular in Louisiana.
This is the last chart showing the interest in the related search queries. Data points are in comparison to the highest point on the chart. For instance, “machine learning algorithms” has 50 hits, which is 50% of the interest in the highest point on this graph, “python”. The most popular search query for 3D printing is “3d printer”. “Ar augmented reality” and “ar” are the two most popular related queries for the search term augmented reality. Lastly, machine learning’s two most popular related queries are “python and”python machine learning".
