1 Personal Statement

Nowadays I am Full-Time Professor in Universidad del Norte (Colombia), peer evaluator recognized by Colciencias and Senior Researcher at Colciencias (valid until Dec-2023) and belong to two (2) research groups. I have got in my track record the publication of eight (8) books and one (1) book chapter (2005-2021). Up to date I have published 35 papers in national and international journals (2005-2021), on different fields of knowledge, these ones have been hugely important because of their great and significant contribution to the science. Some of them have been by individual working, and others have been in partnership with other researchers. Particularly, several of them are in the Education, Psychology, Biostatistic and Stochastic Process fields. During 2008-2021 I have participated in three (3) projects financed by the Research and Projects Direction (Dirección de Investigación y Proyectos DIDI) in Universidad del Norte, 4 more financed by Colciencias (Colombia), 4 in agreement with other universities and 1 more financed by OPS. During 2004-2021, I have supervised 20 students of the Universidad del Norte in Postgraduate Programs to the completion of their degrees (17 in Master of Applied Statistics; 2 in Master of Education and 1 in Doctorate of Psychology). I have attended approx. 32 conferences as a speaker in Congress, Symposium and Seminars (2004-2021). This is the reason why I consider the experience and expertise I have developed along my career and research activity will work to contribute toward achieving the objectives of the proposed activities in the group. As co-Investigator, I will bring expertise in statistics and data analysis.

Research interests: Statistical methods, Biostatistics and quantitative methods to analyze personality, psychological and educational data, with a focus on latent change models and dynamical systems.

Research Groups: Mathematics (Division of Basic Sciences, Universidad del Norte, 2004 – Present) and Tropical diseases (Division of Health Sciences, Universidad del Norte, 2005 – Present).

Courses taught: Linear Algebra, Calculus, Statistical Programming in Statgraphics, SPSS and R, Inferential Statistics, Statistical Methods in Psychology, Introduction to probability, Statistical Methods for Researchers.

Research Skills: Extensive knowledge in the analysis of latent variable modeling and statistical methods. Extensive experience with the statistical programs R, SPSS and Statgraphics and with MikTex.
