Ranking: The best universities in the world 2022
The British magazine “Times Higher Education” (THE) selects the best universities in the world every year. A total of 1662 universities from 99 countries and territories were analyzed for the “Times Higher Education Ranking 2022”. Here is an overview of which universities are also shining under pandemic conditions:
| Place | Name | Country |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | University of Oxford | Great Britain |
| 2 | California Institute of Technology | USA |
| 3 | Harvard University | USA |
| 4 | Stanford University | USA |
| 5 | University of Cambridge | Great Britain |
| 6 | Massachusetts Institute of Technology | USA |
| 7 | Princeton University | USA |
| 8 | University of California, Berkeley | USA |
| 9 | Yale University | USA |
| 10 | University of Chicago | USA |
The best universities in the world are mainly to be found in America: eight universities in the top 10 come from the USA, including such renowned names as Harvard (3rd place), Stanford (4th place) or Princeton (7th place). However, the leader comes from Great Britain: for the sixth time in a row, Oxford University has taken first place in the ranking. The university, which is steeped in tradition, stood out, among other things, for its high proportion of foreign students: 42 percent of its students came from abroad. No other university makes as much out of the top 10.
