I am interested in doing research on the impact of financial literacy on purchasing/debt behavior. I’m curious about what people spend money on, why they spend money on certain items. Really what makes something worth spending money on to individuals.

I don’t have my research question narrowed down but I am considering some consumer complaint data. In some research I did last year I found there was still some unclear definitions regarding “financial literacy” so it might also be fun to see throughout a collection of books, websites, or articles on the matter had similar definitions to help in narrowing down the true meaning of it.

Also I am considering possiby doing something like the example of the Harry Potter books, but instead of those books using cookbooks!

In this class I’m really excited to learn how to sift through large text sets to extract useful information and learning website scraping.
