Professional Background

After my master’s degree, I worked as a Software Engineer with Reval ION Pvt. Ltd., a global provider of cloud treasury and risk management software (SaaS) solutions for financial institutions. Working for a big product like Reval, I learnt how to collaborate with delivery teams, prioritize work according to the release cycles and better the performance and optimization to enhance the product quality. During the product development process, I enjoyed solving problems, analyzing critical data, and delivering under pressure.

After three years, I got the opportunity to be a part of an R&D team that was tasked with developing a new product, “Request for Proposal” web application. Analyzing & processing historical data and presenting insights into market trends, product pricing shifts, customer’s changing needs to stakeholders were exciting parts of this job. Designing interactive dashboards, reports and visualizations from customer data using Power BI was another piece of work I undertook. All these tasks directly drove upstream business decisions and it was satisfying to know that I was making an impact there.Besides this, I spent time learning about AngularJS framework and helped design an aesthetically pleasing and effective product UX/UI using the same. I also developed robust architectures for various RFP modules to boost the performance and efficiency of the web app development task. Apart from the technical side of the product, I worked on the functional aspects such as requirement gathering, creating designs and workflows, and ensuring stakeholder buy-in, all this in an Agile environment. This encompassed performing feasibility analysis by reviewing project data and coming up with contingency plans for project risks.

I believe my tenure (4.5 years) at Reval was very rewarding and motivated me to explore further, the interrelationship between business and technology and therefore I decided to do my second masters in Information Systems in the US.
