The ongoing global Covid-19 pandemic has caused the overwhelming capacity of hospitals in offering beds for Covid-19 treatment. The people infected with Covid-19 virus were struggling to spend their time to search or call hospital by hospital to ask whether the hospital still have beds available for Covid-19 patients and thus unable to receive the treatment in time.

Hence, the purpose of this project is to create a product that enable the people in Malaysia to check the availability of hospital beds for Covid-19 treatment. This Shiny APP is created based on the data below:

• The list of hospitals in Malaysia that offer Covid-19 treatment is obtained from Ministry of Health Malaysia website. (https://covid-19.moh.gov.my/garis-panduan/garis-panduan-kkm/ANNEX_3_SENARAI_PUSAT_SARINGAN_COVID-19_DAN_HOSPITAL_MENGENDALIKAN_KES_COVID19_11062021.pdf)

• The hourly beds availability of 100 Malaysia hospitals for Covid-19 treatment and the data is self generated daily by using R.

This is the interface of our Shiny APP!

• There are 2 inputs can be selected by users:
  • State
  • Hospital
• There are 3 outputs will be shown in the dashboard:
  • Map: Hospitals location and information showing in each individual pinpoint on a map
  • Table: Hospital information showing in a 2-dimensional row and column format
  • Graph: Hospital information are plotted in line graph format

• Empathize: Our close friends, friend of friend infected with Covid-19 were struggling to look for hospitals that have available beds for immediate Covid-19 treatment.
• Define: There is a need for Covid-19 infected people in Malaysia to be able to easily know the hospitals nearby them with available beds for Covid-19 treatment.

Instead of showing all the rows and columns of data for user to manually check for the current hour beds occupancy in the hospital near to them, we designed the dashboard to display the beds occupancy in the Map, Table and Graph. So that they are able to check for beds occupancy easily, quickly, and with least amount of effort.

There are also two inputs in the dashboard: state and hospital filter; that allow user to easily filter the state that they are currently in to check for hospitals with available beds or directly select their desire hospital to check for beds availability.

• We have our very first experience in learning how to deploy our Shiny APP.
• Able to deploy the APP in a short time period (within 2 hours).
• Able to designed the dashboard with just a few lines of codes using Shiny in R instead of writing long HTML codes.
• Learnt how to process the data by using R.
• Shiny APP will take very long time to load the graphs so we have to show the graphs based on the inputs provide by the user.
