Intro to Data

The data that we are looking at here are soccer ratings from the popular EA Sports video game FIFA 2021. The data that we are using includes several rating categories such as pace, dribbling, shooting, defense, work rate, and several others.

This document will look at the correlation between a player’s dribbling rating and their attacking work rate.

Correlation Analysis

What kind of correlation does a player’s dribbling have with their overall rating? Does it differ among a player’s Attacking work rate? Does it differ among right or left footed players?

The visual above clearly shows that the higher the dribbling rating for a player, the higher their overall rating will be. The relationship is stronger for players that have High and Medium attacking work rates. A High and Medium working rate has the best dribblers and overall players, while a low attacking work rate players are not as good dribblers, and do not have as many high overall ratings, especially left footed players with a low attacking work rate.
