Penguins are one of the first species that come to mind when one thinks of Antarctica. However, of the 17 penguin species in the world, only seven can actually be found on the Great White Continent. The data that we use in our visualization was collected and made available by Dr. Kristen Gorman and the Palmer Station, Antarctica LTER, a member of the Long Term Ecological Research Network The dataset contains data for 344 penguins, collected from 3 islands in the Palmer Archipelago, Antarctica.
In this analysis, we are trying to understand the size of different species of penguins. We use the combination of Body Mass and Flipper length to visualize this. The Species are differentiated by their color of the points and the sex of the penguin is differentiated by the shape of the points.
