I have received a hands-on training in R during my stint at Mu Sigma. I have used R to create baysian netorks as path of decision making, to implement a agent based modeling soution; I have also used R to create R shiny dashboards to visualize the outcomes and create tools where the users are allowed to play with the models/data with ease.
