RPubs

Introduction

RPubs is an online publishing platform for RStudio. It allows you to create R Markdown documents in RStudio and publish them directly to RPubs through RStudio.

Creating your account

  1. Go to rpubs.com.
  2. Click Register in the top, right-hand corner. I used my personal email address and not my UMass email address to ensure easy access after my UMass email address eventually expires.
  3. Sign in to your account.

Publishing to RPubs

  1. Open RStudio and create a new Rmd file (File > New File > R Markdown).
  2. When you’re ready to publish to RPubs, click Knit.
  3. From your knitted document, click Publish in the top, right-hand corner.
  4. Select Rpubs.
  5. Click Publish. You’ll then be able to create/edit a title, short description and customized slug.

Troubleshooting

For whatever reason the publishing process only works for me if I create my Rmd file in a new R Project. If I am working in either DACSS601Fall21 or DACSS601August21, nothing happens when I knit my document and I therefore can’t publish it. I couldn’t say why this is but that’s been my experience. So if you knit and nothing happens, check the icon at the top, right-hand corner of your screen (in RStudio–see below screenshot!). If it says DACSS601Fall21 or DACSS601August21, then click Open Project in New Session.
