Story

This house was originally designed for Dr & Mrs. Leon Neiman. It was the last house Bill went to visit.

One of Bill’s favorite things to do was to take an impromptu road trip with a friend or family member, and stop in along the way at a house he had designed years ago to see who was living there now.

The last time we did this was on his birthday in 2019, the pre-Covid era. It was a cold rainy April day, and we headed from Twinsburg where he was living, south to Akron. Just because. And while we’re noodling around some cool old streets on the ridge by the river, he says, “I think I did a house around here somewhere”. He’s 92 now. And yet, … we manage to find the neighborhood, and then the street, and then the house. So of course we drive up and knock on the door, uninvited, unannounced.

The occupants were so gracious, and so delighted to meet the man who had designed their home. The wife was just back from the hospital with her several day old baby, and still they invited us in and gave us a full tour. The husband said he had known about this house since he was a kid, and always loved it. They had just bought the house about a year earlier.

They still had the pictures taken during construction.
