Story

This house was orginally built for Dr. Lee Rubenstein and his wife. The pool was built into a hillside, which, while stunning, led to some subsidence problems… Bill’s daughters stopped in after he passed away and the current occupants were gracious, welcoming and very proud of both the house and their updates to it.

Story

This is another of Bill’s most iconic and well loved houses. It cascades over the side of a ravine at a bend in Wiley Creek, with extraordinary views of the creek, with the waterfall and the stacked shale cliff on the other side.

Bill’s daughters visited the day after he passed, at the suggestion of Ilene Greenblatt, the current occupant of the Hale house a few miles away. The Sommers, true to form, graciously welcomed us into their home and gave us a full tour. They have been remodeling the inside, and proudly showed us some carpentry details that had been carefully designed to echo Bill’s original details.

It was Ilene’s connection with the Sommers that gave us the idea for bringing the current occupants of Bill’s homes together for a house tour.
