What is markdown?

Markdown is a simplified programming language.
This language helps produce complex documents such as HTML script-based websites.
Even if Markdown is a wide domain, one should not be afraid to start learning and using it.
For this reason, we provide below, a list of basic syntaxes that can get you started!

Basic syntaxes

Paragraphs

Paragraphs can be mainly defined when the user inserts a blank line after one or more lines of text.
This way, the text that will come after the blank line will be in a new paragraph.

Line breaks

For line breaks, insert two or more spaces after the sentence and then type enter.

Emphasis: italic or bold text

  1. Italic (2 types of syntaxes)

    • insert *before and after the word or group of words (example: *Italic* will give Italic) or
    • insert _before and after the word or group of words (example: _Italic_ will give Italic) : Do not use this synthax within sentences
  2. Bold text (2 types of syntaxes)

    • insert **before and after the word or group of words (example: **Italic**will give Italic) or
    • insert __which is two times _ before and after the word or group of words (example: __Italic__ will give Italic: Do not use this synthax within sentences

Headers (2 types of syntaxes)

  • Underline text with equal signs = or iphen signs - to generate respectively h1 and h2 headings
  • Put one to 6 hash marks before text to generate h1 to h2 headings

Lists (2 types of syntaxes)

  • Unordered lists: use *, + or - before each element of the list
  • Order lists: use 1. 2.n. before elements 1, 2 … n of the list

Images (2 types of syntaxes)

Blockquotes

blockquotes can be used to introduce content from other sources.
To generate this structure, use the > symbol at the beginning of the line.
For example, the code below:
