This week in coding I learnt how to visualise data using R.

I found this week to be a bit harder than last week but that was expected! However, I still found it enjoyable and challenging in a good way.

Below I’ve inserted two of the plots I made this week!

GOALS

Similar to last week, my goals for this week were to go through the coding content and also develop a good understanding of it as well. It did take me much longer to complete the content this week but there was also more content as well!

Following from this, I also wanted to continue growing my confidence with coding, in which I think I succeeeded this week. Although the content was starting to get harder, I think this in turn built my confidence as I knew I was starting to do more “complicated” things in RStudio.

CHALLENGES/SUCCESSES

As this week’s content was harder than last weeks, it was expected that I had more challenges, but also more successes!

I noticed most of my mistakes (Or challenges) came from me making typos or not following the examples properly. I also learnt to make sure I end lines with a comma, but I noticed RStudio also reminds you to do this.

One of my most common mistakes was forgetting to include plus signs following different sections of code, to connect my code. I also found difficulty near the end of the videos, changing the colour of the plot. Somehow I made my data greyscale, and couldn’t particularly figure out how to make it colour again.

Eventually I figured out how to by deleting and reinserting parts of the code until I reached success! (honestly not the best method though).

Another funny challenge this week was that I accidentally delted my original learning log that I started for this week! I guess you could consider this Learning Log 2.1

NEXT STEPS

Next week I want to be able to avoid as many errors as possible regarding silly mistakes and typos. I also want to return to this week’s content, maybe using the suggested resources, to ensure I don’t get rusty with data visualisation.
