Week 1

Goals

From this week’s coding modules, I had two goals:

  1. To create a coherent learning log that utilises what I’ve learned from this week’s coding modules.
  2. To successfully publish my first learning log.

Challenges and Successes

  • As this week was only an introduction, I did not come across many challenges. I did experience the ‘pickiness’ of YAML, as I forgot one indentation when attempting to change the theme, which led to an error. However, I was easily able to fix the issue and create this learning log! I was also able to successfully create headings, lists and insert a picture! I inserted a picture of my dog who was keeping me company as I wrote this log, he’s a great study buddy!

Next Steps

  • From this week, I have learned the foundations of Markdown and R Markdown documents. I have also learned about the usefulness of these tools when documenting and analysing scientific research. My next steps are to continue watching Danielle’s coding modules, specifically next week’s modules relating to data visualisation.
