There are 21 variables provided in the Bank data set, both continuous and categorical variables. The column “y” shows ‘yes’ if a client subscribes and has ‘no’ if they do not.
To profile the client list of the data set we calculated the frequencies of the categorical variables, 10 in total.
The relationship between the categorical variables by ‘y’ was determined using chi-square tests. For the purpose of accurately predicting the effect of the variable on subscriptions, the ‘yes’ and ‘no’ were considered in the form of relative proportions.
Of the 10, 8 categorical variables were found to be significantly related with the variable “y” and the results were plotted on barplots.
The relationship of continuous variables with the variable ‘y’ was tested through T-test and explained using scatterplots.
The company is recommended to target more students and retired clients.
The company is recommended to target people with marital status either unknown, single or divorced.
The company should target clients with a university degree or who’s education level is unknown.
The company should contact clients with no default credit.
The company should contact clients on their cellular devices. Also, the clients contacted should be spoken to for a longer duration.
The company is recommended to explore if contacting clients during the break time, such as spring break or winter break, yields higher subscription.
Contacting clients mid week, such as, on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday is recommended.
The company is recommended to contact clients who were categorised as, “success” as well as “failure” in the previous campaign.
The company should put a limit to the times a client is contacted as increasing frequency in contact made will not necessarily yield a higher rate in term deposit subscription.
The company is recommended to contact clients from the previous campaigns greater number of times. Also, to contact clients sooner after the last contact made from the previous campaigns.
Lesser employee variation rate will yield higher term deposits.
Lower Euribor rate will yield higher term deposits.

The relationship of the variables: education and yes is significant.
Although, the proportion of term deposit subscriptions shows the highest under ‘illiterate’, it is not an accurate predictor because of an extremely small sample of 4 deposits only.
Ergo, it is safe to rely on: university degree and unknown, to conclude that subscribers with higher education and of those with unknown education level tend towards depositing higher rate of term deposits.

Bulk of clients are between age 32 (1st quartile) and age 47 (3rd quartile) with mean lying at 40.
The mean difference between the age group of those who sub subscribed to a term deposit to those who didn’t is extremely small.
Therefore, the company is recommended to not rely entirely on age as the deciding factor to profile the client list for future campaigns.
Variables: age and yes are significantly related.
The bell curve is skewed to right, positive skewness, with the peak highest at age 30.
Most clients that subscribed are between age 20-50. Although, outliers beyond age 60 can be seen of those who made the term deposit.
Variables: duration and yes have a significant relationship.
There is a significant difference in contact duration between those who subscribed to term deposit and those that didn’t.
Therefore, clients with whom the call lasts longer are more likely to open a term deposit.
Variables: campaign and yes have a significant relationship.
It is interesting to note that contacting a client greater number of times does not necessarily yield a yes.
It is safe to recommend that the company should put a limit to the times a client is contacted, in this case, perhaps, not more than 3 times.
Variables: pdays and yes have a significant relationship.
Due to the presence of 999 as an input for missing value the scatter plot shows activity around x axis value: 1000.
There is a significant difference in the number of days after the client was last contacted from a previous campaign for those who opened term the deposit in relation to those who didn’t.
Therefore, people who were contacted sooner after the last contact made from the previous campaigns are more likely to open term deposits.
The variables previous and y are significantly related.
There is a significant difference in the number of times a client was contacted in the previous campaign who made the term deposit from those who didn’t.
Therefore, people who were contacted in previous campaigns greater number of times are more likely to make a term deposit.
The variable Employee Variation Rate is significantly related to the variable ‘y.’
There is a significant difference in the mean employment variation rate for those who subscribed for a term deposit in relation to those who didn’t.
Therefore, when employee variation rate is negative, i.e., when the client deals the less variation in the employees contacting him/her, s/he is more likely to open term deposits.

The variable Consumer Price Index is significantly related to the variable ‘y.’
However, the difference between there means is not significant enough to rely on this variable as a predictor.

The variable Consumer Confidence Index is significantly related to the variable ‘y.’
However, the difference between there means is not significant enough to rely on this variable as a predictor.
The variable Euribor 3 month rate is significantly related to the variable ‘y.’
There is a significant difference in euribor 3 month rate between those who subscribed to term deposit and those that didn’t.
Therefore, when Euribor interest rate is low people are more likely to open a term deposit.
The variable Number of Employees is significantly related to the variable ‘y.’
However, the difference between there means is not significant enough to rely on this variable as a predictor.
