Guide to R for SCU Economics Students, v. 7.12

Guide to R For SCU Economics Students

Version 7.12, Feb. 28, 2021

This guide was designed for use by Economics majors at Santa Clara University in ECON 41: Data Analysis and Econometrics, and the accompanying lab course, ECON 42. The Guide consists of a set of tutorials that will help you learn how to conduct a variety of statistical analyses and manage your data in R.

The latest version of the Guide consists of a textbook in pdf format, with accompanying R scripts and sample data sets. These materials are all available in this folder:

Guide v. 7.12 with scripts and data

For each tutorial, you should open the accompanying script in RStudio and follow the instructions in the tutorial step by step, running the lines of script as called for, and examining the results. The later tutorials build on the earlier ones, so do them in order. Tutorials #1-8 are typically covered in ECON 41/42; Tutorials #9 and beyond are additional material for use in more advanced R-based courses.

This is a work in progress. Feedback of any kind is welcomed! Please contact Bill Sundstrom, , or Michael Kevane, , Dept. of Economics, Santa Clara University.
