Hi PSYC3361, welcome to my week 6 learning log!
Week 7 Goals
- To complete the last bits of aesthetics for our plots
- To begin my verification report
- To successfully transfer our code from R to R Markdown
Challenges and Successes
It wasn’t very hard to complete our plots…all thanks to Carla! It’s now very beautiful code…something I would NEVER have thought I’d be saying!!
I also found that some of my code that I thought was fine was mixed up so it was helpful to go through it and comment it.
The issues I ran into this week were around transferring my code from R Script to R Markdown.
- I managed to make it work for Figure 1, but haven’t worked it out for Figure 2 yet, so that’s a goal for this week!
- Here’s some screenshots of my Verification Report:
- As you can see, my study 2 and 3 sex exclusions code isn’t transferring to R Markdown very well.. that’s something I’ll work on this week!
- All of Figure 1 is showing up well in R Markdown so yay!
- This is the start of Figure 2. I’ve commented it all out until I can work out what’s wrong with it…
I also tried to come up with some questions for Part 3 which I found really hard but successfully came up with some. This week I’ll try and do the analyses in R. These are the ones I’ll use:
- 3a. Is gender (male) correlated with the amount of disgust when you see a cockcroach run across the floor? This may be a complete stereotype, but I feel like men are less disgusted by bugs than women. I want to know whether this is actually true!
- 3b. Is annual household income correlated with level of disgust felt? If so, is it positively or negatively correlated? Again, a huge assumption…but I would think that those who have higher income will be more disgusted because they have cleaners to deal with all the mess.. Again, a huge assumption and I will happily be proven wrong, but the data is there so let’s check!
- 3 c. Do people in a relationship have higher levels of contact comfort in platonic relationships? I would assume that people in a relationship would have higher levels of contact comfort than those who aren’t…so let’s see!
Week 8 Goals
- To make a start on my part 3 analyses in R
- To successfully transfer my Figure 2 code to R Markdown
