This text is a first rough analysis of the content of the Post Activity Surveys. It reviews all sections of the questionnaire. It is not a report, but a quick review of the data available.
There are two different data sets (one in french, and one in english). The first step is to append both sets.
Secondly, as the survey has been tested by several people, we removed the surveys completed by the following email addresses:
Some of the fields will be explored more in detail below.
The table summarizes how many surveys have been capture per country.

The respondents are asked to asses the cost of travel to Europe in local currency and USD. The plots below present the distribution asnwers for USD. There was the need to do extensive cleaning; the field in the survey allows for integers and text. To do it quickly, we removed all text strings, empty values and values above 10,000 USD. A more rigorous analysis requires a more detailed exploration of the answers given.

The field to insert the time of travel allow also for text and integers. Analyzing the replies of the respondents would require thorough cleaning of the fields. Ten examples of the answers given are presented below. There are 81 different anwers in total

The intention to travel within the next two years and willingness to travel if the means are available is evaluated via a select one question with the following options: Yes, No, Maybe, Does not know (DNK). We suggest analyzing both together to assess potential inconsistencies in the replies, e.g. the person declares an intention to travel within two years, but unwilling to travel if she/he has access to the financial means to do so.
From the graph below, we see that:
intention_plot
The respondent is asked to rank his willingness to travel by any means possible, on a scale from 1 (no intention to travel) to 6 (very determined to travel).
The plot below shows that most respondents are not that willing (value below 3) to travel by any means possible.
intention_any_plot
The respondent is asked if the activity has changed his knowledge about the dangers of irregular migration and to select between the following options: No – not at all, Yes – a little, Yes – completely, I do not know (DNK), I do not want to reply (DNR)).
Most of the respondents declare having changed their knowledge due to the activity.

The respondents are asked to list the risks linked with irregular migration. The surveyor reads the risks aloud to the respondent and she/he selects those they consider relevant across the following list:
A thorough analysis would require reclassifying the replies given in others. Given to the lack of time, we did not do it for this first analysis
The graph below displays the frequency of answers. The most frequently mentioned are:

Calculating the indicator for output 1 requires transforming respondent selection into knowing and not knowing about the risks of irregular migration. To answer this indicator, we will divide respondents into three categories:
Most of the respondents listed more than three risks.

The last question of the survey asks the potential migrant if the activity caused her/him to reconsider her/his plans to travel. The respondent can choose between the following options: Yes – Totally, Yes- a little, No – Not at all, DNK, DNR. This answer will be used to calculate the indicators for output 2. We suggest counting the answers in the first two categories as respondents who are reconsidering their plans to travel.
Most respondent reply reconsidering their plans to travel.
