We did some fire and grazing to try to get patch contrast in veg structure…so what happened?!
While precip, season of fire, and timing of grazing influence these reults, we have pretty consistent differences between the recently burned patches and the unburned/3yr+ patches across most variables. 2019 is not great for contrast thanks to having twice the normal rainfall and three times as much compared to 2017.
I am in the process of replacing the mean and standard error graphs with parameter estimates with 95% confidence intervals.
As expected, we have less forb and legume cover in the sheep pastures.
Mean and standard error still
Takeaway from 2019: grass grows really tall when it has twice the average precipitation!
What is ground litter?
Ground litter is dead plant material that is not standing, but is also not necessarily bare ground. This is one of the bigger reasons why I think we have inceased soil moisture in the recently burned patches.
Still mean and standard error
Broad plant functional groups: still means and standard error for now
