If the image of the metropolis in the twentieth century was that of skyscrapers and job opportunities, today around the world it is possible to observe poverty scenarios where a large part of the inhabitants of large cities of the 21st century live. We have witnessed the growing number of slums in different parts of the world; on all continents. The numbers are impressive and when exposed, as done by Mike Davis (2006), they leave astonished even the least involved with the theme: there are approximately 200 thousand existing slums on the planet, this growth is linked to several factors, some of them socio-environmental and also to other factors. The merciless real estate speculation is one of the factors responsible for the expulsion of millions of poor residents from the cities to the peripheries and to the slums, subjecting them to floods, landslides and all kinds of risk that they end up subjecting, leading to serious diseases, even linked the lack of basic sanitation. In addition, diseases that are practically banned from central countries are skyrocketing in these areas. Data prove the exponential growth of tuberculosis among the inhabitants of the slums. The favelas of Rio had the greatest territorial growth since 2012, new areas occupied last year have 330 thousand square meters, which is equivalent to a new Morro do Borel, favela located in tijuca.Zona Norte of the City of Rio de Janeiro
