In 2018 Australia registered an average of 8 deaths by suicide per day which was two and a half times the national average deaths caused by road accidents.
But this figure is only a part of the whole story…..There are thousands more who attempt suicide:
2016-2017 ,7% of the hospitalised injuries were due to intentional self-harm.
In 2007 it was estimated that among Australians age 16-85 ,1 in 8 (13%) has had serious thoughts about taking their own life; 1 in 25 (4.0%) made a suicide plan, and 1 in 33 (3.3%) had attempted suicide.
