GPstat! introduction


A 'near-future' tool to opportunistically find opportunities for screening and chronic disease management.

Main menu

Appointments

List of appointments with currently selected provider(s) and selected date range.

Appointments

Basic functionality

Choosing patient appointment, or contact, lists (right sidebar)

Choosing clinicians and dates

Appointments

Choose clinicians who will be seen in appointment or contact lists.

Don't forget to click the Update button after choosing the clinicians to update the view!

Clinician list can be restricted by practice location.

Clinicians can be assigned practice location(s) in Configuration - User Settings and Permissions.

Practice location(s) can be created/modified in Configuration - Practice Locations/Groups.

Date selection

Choose date range.

Don't forget to click the Update button after choosing the date range to update the view!

Choose contact type

For β€˜contact view’ or β€˜PIP quality improvement’. Not for appointment view.

Contact type

Choose types of contact which are used in 'Contact view' or 'PIP Quality Improvement'

Choose from 'Appointment' (entry in appointment book), 'Visits' (recording in progress notes) and 'Services' (billings).

Minimum number of contacts

Minimum number of contacts (within the specified time period to be considered in the 'contacted list'.

This can be used to define an 'active' patient e.g. three contacts within the last two years.

The time period is specified with the ' Date Range' tab in this right side-bar.

Appointment status shown

If 'Appointments' is chosen as a type of contact then choose the types of appointment status which are considered valid contacts.

Options include 'Booked', 'Waiting', 'With Doctor', 'At Billing', 'Invoiced' and 'Completed'.

By default, 'Booked' and 'Waiting' are not considered valid contacts.

Visit types shown

If 'Visits' is chosen as a type of contact then choose the types of visits which are considered valid contacts.

Visit types are numerous, and include 'Surgery', 'Home', 'Non Visit', 'Telephone', 'SMS', 'Email', 'Telehealth' etc. etc.

The default does not include 'Non Visit' and 'Telephone', but does include 'Telehealth'.

Most recent contact

The date of the most recent contact can be restricted to a date range.

By default, the range is very broad, from more than ten years in the past up to the current day.

The date of the most recent contact can be restricted to, for example, the past three months.

Or changed to, for example, more than three months ago.

If using Contacts view then the types of contact e.g. Appointment-book, Visits (progress notes) and/or Services (billings) and minimum number of contact (within the specified time period) is chosen with the Contact details tab in the right side-bar.

Contact type

Choose types of contact which are used in 'Contact view' or 'PIP Quality Improvement'

Choose from 'Appointment' (entry in appointment book), 'Visits' (recording in progress notes) and 'Services' (billings).

Minimum number of contacts

Minimum number of contacts (within the specified time period to be considered in the 'contacted list'.

This can be used to define an 'active' patient e.g. three contacts within the last two years.

Post-natal view


List of post-natal (or potentially post-natal) patients, according to currently selected clinicians and dates.

By default shows : Patient Name , DOB , RecordNo , EDC (by LNMP and Scan) , EndDate , Outcome , Appointment Date , Appointment Time , Provider (clinician), Appointment Status

Post-natal view


Filtered by number of days post-natal , whether a 'visit' recorded by the selected clinicians during the potential pregnancy period, and any recorded pregnancy outcome .

The list only includes patients who have a recorded visit with a clinician during the past (280 + 30 + 'maximum days post-natal') days. The clinician list to include is chosen with the Appointment Details tab on the right side-bar. Applicable visit-types (by default, most 'in-person' visit types) are chosen in the Contact details - Visit types shown panel of the right side-bar.



Post-natal view


The list of post-natal patients is attached to appointments, within the selected date range (right side-bar, 'Selected date range') and with clinicians as chosen in the right side-bar.

Pregnancies which have a defined end-date are 'post-natal'. By default, pregnancies which are after the due date, as defined by the EDC ('estimated date of confinement'), are also considered post-natal. If only pregnancies which have a defined end-date are to be included in this list, turn off the Include EDC switch.

Chronic Disease Management view

View CDM opportunities for chosen clinicians and dates.

CDM opportunities can be viewed for (usually future) Appointments , or historical Contacts .

If a selected clinician is not registered/subscribed then CDM opportunities will only be shown if at least ninety days old.

Billing view

View billings for chosen clinicians and dates.

If a selected clinician does not have a subscription/license then billings will only be shown if at least a week old.

Billing view


List of billings according to currently selected clinicians and dates.

'Show all day's billings' will include billings done for patients seen by the selected clinicians during the selected dates (according to the appointment book), but billed by another provider.

By default shows : Patient (name), DOB/Age and Billings list.

Also shows Appointment details, status and visit type e.g. AppointmentTime and Provider (clinician).

Billing options


COVID-19 bulk-billing incentive
Display potential opportunities to bill COVID-19 bulk billing incentives (10981/10982). Searches for age criteria, pregnancy/post-natal status and some chronic health conditions. Only one potentially qualifying condition is displayed

This feature should probably be combined by turning off all Billing types viewed (below) except 'direct billiing' because only direct ('bulk') billed patients qualify for the bulk-billing incentive.
Billing types viewed
Choose types of billing viewed, from 'Other' (which includes private), direct ('bulk') billing, DVA and WorkCover. By default, all billing types are viewed.

Quality Improvement Measures (QIM)

View QIM reports, status and opportunities for chosen clinicians and dates.

Use 'QIM Appointment' to view QIM opportunities for (usually future) Appointments.

Use 'PIP Quality Improvement' to produce QIM reports for (historical) contacts.

GPstat! Quality Improvement Measures (QIM)


In QIM Appointment the patients are drawn from the appointment book, as chosen by selected Clinicians and date range .

In PIP Quality Improvement the patients are drawn from 'active' patients, as defined by Contact details , Clinicians and date range

Practice Incentive Program (PIP) Quality Improvement (QIM) view


Generate reports of QIM measurements according to currently selected clinicians, dates and contact definitions.

By default shows demographic groupings (e.g. Age10 , Sex and Ethnicity ) and the number of patients in each grouping.

Demographic groupings and Old Measurements


Display (and grouping) by demographic groups (e.g. Age10 , Sex and Ethnicity ) can be changed using the Settings dropdown to the top-right of the table, just to the left of the 'Quality Improvement Measures' title.

This can be used to define an 'active' patient e.g. three contacts within the last two years.

The time period is specified with the ' Date Range' tab in this right side-bar.

Appointment status shown

If 'Appointments' is chosen as a type of contact then choose the types of appointment status which are considered valid contacts.

Options include 'Booked', 'Waiting', 'With Doctor', 'At Billing', 'Invoiced' and 'Completed'.

By default, 'Booked' and 'Waiting' are not considered valid contacts.

Visit types shown

If 'Visits' is chosen as a type of contact then choose the types of visits which are considered valid contacts.

Visit types are numerous, and include 'Surgery', 'Home', 'Non Visit', 'Telephone', 'SMS', 'Email', 'Telehealth' etc. etc.

The default does not include 'Non Visit' and 'Telephone', but does include 'Telehealth'.

Most recent contact

The date of the most recent contact can be restricted to a date range.

By default, the range is very broad, from more than ten years in the past up to the current day.

The date of the most recent contact can be restricted to, for example, the past three months.

Or changed to, for example, more than three months ago.

Practice Incentive Program (PIP) Quality Improvement (QIM) view


Generate reports of QIM measurements according to currently selected clinicians, dates and contact definitions.

By default shows demographic groupings (e.g. Age10 , Sex and Ethnicity ) and the number of patients in each grouping.

Demographic groupings and Old Measurements


Display (and grouping) by demographic groups (e.g. Age10 , Sex and Ethnicity ) can be changed using the Settings dropdown to the top-right of the table, just to the left of the 'Quality Improvement Measures' title.

Note that the groupings can be hidden using the 'Column visibility' button to the bottom-right of the table, but hiding the groupings does not stop the grouping!

By default measurements which are not recent/current, as defined by the Department of Health PIP QI Incentive Guidance are not included in the reports and listings. 'Old' measurements can be included by toggling the / Ignore old measurements button in the Settings dropdown.

Reports show summary statistics, grouping patients by demographic, and measurement, groupings
Lists show the individual patient details which are used to generate the reports.

Note that some types of identifying patient information (e.g. names) are not shown by default in the List view but can be shown by altering the 'Column visibility' settings, found on the bottom right.

Cardiovascular Risk


Cardiovascular Risk view shows cardiovascular risk factors e.g. CardiovascularDisease (history of), Diabetes (history of), SmokingStatus , Cholesterol (including measurements and dates) BP (including measurements and dates).

There are a lot of cardiovascular risk factor measurements and recordings. If you wish to hide some of these measurements, use the 'Column visibility' button on the bottom-right of the table.

Framingham Risk Equation


If there is enough information to calculate cardiovascular risk according to the Framingham Risk Equation then the risk ' frisk ' is calculated. In some situations ' friskHI ' indicates the calculated risk is greater than 15%.

The 'normal' Framingham Risk Equation does not include people over the age of 75+, those with known cardiovascular disease or people of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background.

GPstat! includes all these groups by default. You can include/exclude these groups using the 'Inclusions/Exclusions' drop-down chooser.
