Introduction: Covid19 - Corono Virus, a brief discussion:

Coronaviruses are a large family of viruses which may cause illness in animals or humans. In humans, several coronaviruses are known to cause respiratory infections ranging from the common cold to more severe diseases such as Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS). The most recently discovered coronavirus causes coronavirus disease COVID-19 - as per World Health Organization COVID-19 virus and disease were unknown before the outbreak began in Wuhan, China, in December 2019. The number of new cases are increasing day by day around the world.

State wide, Confirmed Cases and Deaths in India

  • The first case was reported in India in the State of Kerala, when a student who contacted the disease traveled from Wuhan, back to Kerala. It then spread consistently to all the States of India and as of October 2020 India is recorded to be the second highest in the world, with around 8 million cases, only next to United States.
  • Currently, the highest confirmed cases are in Maharashtra, close to 2 million by itself. Maharashtra is home to Mumbai, the commercial capital of India with its high population density and slum area.
  • The State governance in Kerala, flattened the Covid 19 curve with its aggressive testing and quarantines. Though Kerala ranks in the top 10 highest Confirmed cases, the death cases are one of the lowest in India.

India Statenames with Covid 19

Maharashtra ranks highest with 2 million!!!

Kerala at only 1500, with Maharashtra at 45,000 deaths.

Conclusion:

  • Please note that the visualization depicts Kerala with the lowest incidence of deaths in India, with 1425 deaths to 425,122 confirmed cases, with only 0.34% death rate compared to higher rates in other states, as it has a more white tone compared to red tone in Maharashtra and the rest of India.
  • The states of India can follow the Kerala model and try to flatten the curve of spreading the disease and deaths with adequate testing, self isolation, quarantining and hospital services and safeguards in travel and spreading awareness among people to self care.
  • What I would like to highlight is that India’s average deaths percentage is only 1.49% to the total confirmed cases in India as per this data source and there is a high recovery rate along with the spread of corona virus.
