This map is of the metropolitan division that includes Washington, DC. Here’s where you can see the anomolies in the data really well – the very dark pink area to the right , in Bowie, has about twice as many loans as there were business addresses. We don’t have a good way to know why.
Since you are in Oakland, you can see how it plays out there. The Zip Codes in Alameda County are very diverse, and there are not very many that have a distinct minority. This was determined using an Urban Institute formula in which I looked for a majority of minority groups in non-white areas. Only then when is assigned a race / ethnic code.
(My apologies – I don’t know how to make sure they all have the same colors in each map, since not every map has the same number of possible colors.)
