The bar plot clearly shows that net electricity consumption has been decreased significantly (upto 184%) during working hours (6 am to 6 pm).
So there is nothing positive so far in Covid-times.
Reverse trend of commercial and residential consumption clearly indicates that businesses were shut-down and people were staying at home. Not good.
So there is nothing positive in electricity sector in this covid period.
Let us investigate energy sector a little bit. Hopefully, we shall find something positive there.
Oil is the prime energy sector. Let us try to figure out some positives in oil sector in covid time.
All types of fuel consumption have been decreased except diesel comparing the data of the financial years of 2018-19 and 2019-20.
However, is it really a covid effect? Was fuel consumption in decreasing trend for the last few years?
So, Australian petroleum industry gains strength as import of oil is decreased and export is increased.
Though electricity sector does not show any positive trend, oil industry shows gaining self-reliance with strong production and export growth inspite of having negative sales trend.
That is a very good sign in Covid Time.
