Bright light sources in outdoor nighttime environments can cause discomfort, fatigue, and other adverse effects. It is important to be able to calculate the amount of discomfort glare from these installations to limit the negative effects. This application does just that!
This app “Discomfort Glare Predictions using UGRs in outdoor nighttime environments allows one to calculate discomfort glare (discomfort from bright light sources) in outdoor nighttime environments using a glare index called UGR small source extension (CIE 146-147, 2002) using the following formula:
