Hi, I’m Emily Thie!

My name is Emily, and I am a current student at UC pursuing an MS in Business Analytics. Additionally, I am a tutor at the Huntington Learning Center at Harper’s Point in all four subjects of the ACT and general math tutoring.

In my free time, I love playing piano and spending time with my niece who just turned one at the end of September.

Here is a picture of my mom and I at my best friend’s wedding this summer in which I was maid of honor!

Academic Background

• Finished at the University of Cincinnati this spring with my BS in Mathematics and a certificate in Religious Studies.

• Started the MS Business Analytics as UC this fall, and I love this community!

Professional Background

Beyond my experience as a tutor and a number of years I spent as a musician, I do not have any particular experience in data analytics.

• I just started tutoring at the Huntington Learning Center at Harper’s Point this Spring after graduation.

• Before that, I have been playing piano since high school and it became my sort of part time job slash passion. My accompaniment has included vocal recitals, instrumental concerts, musical pit orchestras, church accompaniment, and the like.

  • One of my favorite experiences went beyond playing piano, I was actually the orchestra conductor for the musical Next to Normal one summer!

Experience with R

The coding bootcamp on DataCamp for the UC BANA program before classes started this fall was my first exposure to R. However, I have used it in almost every class I have had so far and am gaining familiarity.

Experience with other analytic software

In undergrad, I learned C++, and II also worked wth LaTeX in my mathematics experience. Other than that, I have been exposed to:
