Objective of the Report

  1. To find out the possibilities of different cluster that could be formed using MMS data within Gujrat.

  2. To identify the people to whom we should give training in different cities.

  3. To identify of what other constraints that stop SEWA members to uplift them selfves.

  4. To find out the valuable insights which help to uplift the living standards of SEWA members.


Kutuch District Quick summary

There are 32001 Sewa members in Kutuch district. Out of this 50% of SEWA members are below 40 age. The minimum Annual Income of the people is 7000Rs were as maximum income is 15000Rs as seen in the table. Out of this only 13.3527077% people are doing craft or Bandhani work. The literacy rate in kutuch district of Sewa members is low about 60.3293647% Members are illiterate.

Detail analysis of MMS data.

The age distribution clearly shows that as the age of the members increase the number of active members decrease. The age distribution young members below 40 year old in Lakhapat and Abadasa Taluk is similar to the number of active member at 40. Where as in Nakhatrana we can see that their is less number of young active Members, which means that the registration of new young members in Nakhatrana district is low.


The Distribution of Annual Income Taluk wise

As the age of Lakhatpat taluk is lower than other taluk (fig 1), the median income of lakhapat is also lower than other taluk.Fig 2 clearly shows the median income of Abadasa and Nakhatrana taluk is Rs11000, whereas the median Income of Lakhpat is Rs10000. Also the inequilatiy in Abadasa and Lakhapat is higher than Nakhatrana as seen in fig 2.

The relation between Age and income can be proved from fig 3, it clearly shows as the age of Sewa members cross 20 year old,the income of members also increase. But after reaching at certain level( here it is RS 12000) the income of Sewa members won’t increase further, as we can see in the fig 3 the median income of people between 0-20 year age group is RS 10000 where as the median income above 20 years age is Rs 11000

The fig 4 shows that those members who are associated with labour and services or home based work, are not able to increase their income wheare as those members who are associated with products and service kind of work were able to increase their income and climb up the income ladder.

The fig 5 shows that 75.5726384 % peole were doing work related to product and services, 10.4746727% people are associated to labour and services work and 1396.8036936% people are associated to home based work.

fig 6 shows the income of sewa members donot get affected by the availability of Adhar card.

The fig 7 shows that 60.9418456 % people donot have Adhar card in Kutuch district.


Mobile availability in Anand District.

Fig 8 shows that 94.5720446% people donnot have mobile available in kutuch district. This is a challenge as to make Sewa Bazaar online platform sucessful it is important to increase the availability of Mobile phone in the district.

Although the literacy rate in Kutuch district is very low amoong the sewa members as we can see from the above table the Fig 9 clearly shows that the literacy rate among the young members is high in all the taluk of Kutuch district.

Among the literate people people are able to climb up the economic ladder and earn more income, their income are more evenly distributed. Where as the income inequality among Illetrate people is high, they were not able to increase their income. This shows that the Education level help sewa members to generate more income.

From the table we can see that in Anand district out of 32001 members out of which 11692 do not have any bank account. 11692 is 36.5363582% of total members.Availability of banking facilities is the key to become micro entreprenuers.The MMS data shows that even after so much effort from SEWA bank and Government their is significant number of people who donot have banking facilities such as Insaurance,Credit facilities and saving and investment facilities.
