Data 618 Project - Midterm Deliverables

Midterm Objective

My proposal is to complete an analysis to determine the extent that hedging, and derivatives can be utilized to improve horse racing wager returns. The proposed analysis will seek to compare wager returns obtained from straight win bets to returns obtained from a variety of hedged and derivative win bet strategies.

Mid-term deliverables include:

1. Literature Review

2. Data Gathering

3. Definition of hedging and derivative wagering strategies

4. Development of functions to employ the proposed strategies

5. Prototype of hedging functions with Shiny App
